NADIR MOKNÈCHE

Nadir Moknèche was born in 1965 in Paris of Algerian parents. He lived in Algiers during his childhood and returned to Paris at the age of 16. After two years of law school, he decided to attend drama classes at the National Theater of Chaillot. In 1993, he moved to New York and directed two short films at The New School for Social Research. Back in Paris, he directed his first film, Harem of Madame Osmane, then Viva Laldjérie, shot in Algiers in 2003. Paloma’s Delight, his third feature film, didn’t pass censorship in Algeria but was a great success in France and in festivals. Nadir Moknèche was a resident of Villa Medicis as a filmmaker for the 2010-2011 season. After filming his fourth film Goodbye Morocco, in Tangier, he directed his first film entirely in France : Lola Pater, his 5th feature film with Fanny Ardant in the lead part. It was selected at the Locarno Film Festival 2017 and successfully released simultaneously in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
